Season 26 was a transition year for the 9-men squad from manager Ronny. Yonnas Lelisa was sold , making people frown in top level races. While Eritrea Pro Cycling bought and trained the 22-years old Aussie Eden Chapell. He's now the team captain together with Gary Lescure, couldn't make the (too high) expectations true. Eden is instrinsic faster than Gary, but Gary has a better handling and can better ride on the flat terrain before the sprint itself. Still, team manager Ronny doesn't panic and sees his squad going from 11 to 9 riders.
That's because our main sponser didn't want to put more money in the squad, it's crisis for everyone, Ronny has told us lately. Still, Eritrea Pro Cycling got one of the best lead-outs from division 7-8 with Aeden Yassin, Karl Cullen, Gary Lescure and Eden Chappell. The goal for the next season is reaching division 5 for a second time and climbing up to division 4 for a first time. Riding a tour would also be cool, but we don't have enough good riders for it.
Also for the Eritrea's NT, where Ronny is manager of, it wasn't such a great year. Lelisa placed himself in some top 5 places in the C division, but couldn't make the difference in the B division. Habteriam wasn't able to catch any points so far. Though, with the 25-years old Habteriam and the 22-years old Lelisa, the future of Eritrea's pro cycling is secured. Off to the next seaston
